Au Arias, a Scotland-based music director and composer originally from Argentina, has built an impressive international career, working in six countries (Turkey, South Africa, the UK, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina). His conducting and compositions have been featured in renowned festivals and concert halls worldwide.
As a conductor, Au has led acclaimed performances of works such as Mozart’s Requiem, Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, Bizet’s Carmen, Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and Brahms’ symphonies. He made his professional debut in 2014 with the premiere of his opera, Gruta de Ninfas, in Argentina, earning critical acclaim. Notable roles include opera director at the Izmir State Opera & Ballet and the Samsun State Opera & Ballet in Turkey, where he conducted over 70 professional productions.
As a composer, Au gained widespread recognition for his choral-orchestral work Tango Mass, which premiered in 2024 with The Mackintosh Choir in Glasgow, earning a standing ovation. His compositions also include Diagonal 80, a 2023 bandoneon concerto commissioned by The National Congress of Argentina Chamber Orchestra. His music was featured in a television broadcast on Canal Encuentro Argentina, dedicated to his work by the internationally renowned pianist Horacio Lavandera, with whom Au was interviewed.
Now based in Glasgow, Au directs choirs and serves as a guest conductor for the Coweb Orchestra in Northern England, continuing to bring his artistry and innovation to every performance.
