Au Arias is an internationally accomplished orchestra conductor with over a decade of experience leading professional performances across Turkey, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico. His repertoire spans symphonic, operatic, choral-orchestral, and ballet works, with highlights including Mozart’s Requiem, Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2, Brahms’ Symphony No. 4, and Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun.
Notable appointments include his roles as conductor and opera director at the Samsun and Izmir State Opera & Ballet in Turkey, where he led over 70 professional productions. As Chorus Master, he ensured exceptional standards of preparation and performance, often achieving excellence with minimal rehearsal time. In South Africa, he directed the NWU Wind Band, while in Argentina, he held prestigious positions at Teatro de Cámara de City Bell and the Gilardo Gilardi Conservatory of Music, conducting chamber, operatic, and symphonic ensembles.
In Scotland, Au leads several choirs, including Inchorus, the Anstruther Philharmonic Choir, and the Mackintosh Choir. His leadership at these choirs has been marked by successful membership growth, enhanced artistic programming, and high-profile performances at major events such as The Edinburgh Fringe. Under his direction, the Mackintosh Choir restored its membership to pre-pandemic levels and performed its first collaboration with a large ensemble.
